Music legends spotted at Jeremy Clarkson’s pub in the Cotswolds

Several music legends and famous faces have been spotted at Jeremy Clarkson’s Cotswolds pub in Oxfordshire this year.

The Farmer’s Dog in Asthall was bought by the former Top Gear and Grand Tour presenter last year for around £1,000,000 when it was known as The Windmill.

Having been renovated and renamed, the Cotswolds boozer was opened to the public back in August 2024, with fans flocking to the venue ever since.

The pub, which featured in the fourth series of the hit Prime Video show Clarkson’s Farm, has proved popular with the celebrities too in its maiden year.

Status Quo drummer John Coghlan was also spotted enjoying a drink with his wife and a pal earlier this year.

Legendary Scrumpy and Western band, The Wurzels, played a surprise gig at the pub back in the summer too, singing their number one hit, The Combine Harvester, as well as their number three hit, I Am a Cider Drinker.

Other famous faces throughout the year included social media star Big John, who made the trip to the Cotswolds in May.

The 51-year-old, whose real name is John Fisher, rose to online fame in recent years, becoming a viral sensation due to his love for Chinese food and his “bosh” catchphrase.

Also in attendance at the boozer was a former contestant of the BBC show The Apprentice, Thomas Skinner, who recently appeared on Strictly Come Dancing 2025.

The 34-year-old businessman, who became a social media star on X, posted a selection of photographs on his Instagram during a family trip to the Cotswolds in August.

Legendary Slade guitarist Dave Hill also recently confirmed in an exclusive interview with this newspaper that he’d like to visit the watering hole.

Speaking ahead of the band’s gig in Oxford on December 15, he said: “Jeremy, now there’s a guy! I bet he’s a Slade fan.”

“His humour is something else, I think we’d get along, and it would be a battle to see who gets the best jokes in.

“Jeremy Clarkson is very clever, and I obviously liked Top Gear with the crazy drives, and now it is so funny watching him buy massive tractors which look ridiculous for a simple job.

“Everybody knows it’s such a good watch because you’re laughing at it as he sort of acts like he doesn’t know what he’s doing, but he knows exactly what he’s doing.”

Speaking about a potential visit to The Farmer’s Dog, Mr Hill responded: “Depending on where I have to go after the gig, it could be a possibility that I stop by Jeremy’s pub, as that would be a nice thing to do.”

When asked if he would be grabbing a pint of Mr Clarkson’s Hawkstone lager during the visit, Mr Hill admitted he isn’t a fan of beer and prefers wine.

“I’m afraid he wouldn’t get that side of me because I hate beer, but I do like wine,” he said.
