Party leader hits back at ‘personal attack’ from Jeremy Clarkson
The leader of the Green Party has hit back at what he describes as a ‘personal attack’ from Jeremy Clarkson.
Mr Clarkson is well known for having presented both BBC’s Top Gear and Prime Video’s The Grand Tour for more than two decades and has seen huge success with his Prime Video show, Clarkson’s Farm, which is filmed at his farm in Oxfordshire.
In his latest column for The Sunday Times, the 65-year-old spoke about the Green party, whose newly-elected leader Zack Polanski recently said a tax on the wealthiest would end ‘rip-off Britain’ and make the country ‘an affordable’ place to live.
Opening the column, which was published today (October 19), Mr Clarkson said: “I’m greatly amused by Zack Polanski, who is the newly elected leader of the Green Party.
“He is constantly banging on about how he’s going to sort out the country, and I just sit there thinking, “Mate, you can’t even sort out your own teeth”.
“Honestly, it looks like he takes a picture of Shane MacGowan to the dentist.”
The former Top Gear host went on to explain why he is ‘not sure his strategy will work very well’.
The remarks made by Mr Clarkson sparked a furious response from Mr Polanski, who took to X this morning to share his thoughts.
Posting a screenshot of Mr Clarkson’s comments, he said: “I’ve got lots of things to say about Jeremy Clarkson.
“Really not worth it.
“He knows his game is over and so is resorting to personal attacks.”
The party leader went on to say ‘p*** him off instead’ and posted a link to ‘Join the Green Party’.
This comes after Mr Clarkson teased a potential career in politics.
Taking to X on October 12, the former Top Gear host said: “People of Doncaster North. Are you happy with your MP?
“Would you like it if someone from your neck of the woods kicked him out?”
Today (October 19), Labour MP for Doncaster North Ed Miliband was asked about Mr Clarkson’s hints that he may stand in the seat with the aim of toppling its Labour majority.
The Energy Secretary told Sky News’ Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips: “I think he is a sort of long-standing aspirant to my seat.
“I think he said in 2013 that he was going to contest my seat.
“So look, it’s for other people to decide if they want to stand for Parliament, including in my seat.
“I welcome all comers. Let’s see what happens.”
