Police plea to Oxfordshire public after Clarkson’s Farm theft

The Oxfordshire public has been asked by police to “support” farmers in the “crucial” harvest season, the day after a star of Clarkson’s Farm had his tractor stolen.

Thames Valley Police put out the plea in relation to crimes against farmers yesterday (Thursday, July 31), following the theft of equipment from Kaleb Cooper of the Amazon series.

In a statement the Wantage and Grove Neighbourhood team said: “As we move into harvest season, our beautiful countryside is buzzing with activity.

“Farmers are working long hours to bring in the crops, and it’s a crucial time for the land and the people who care for it.

“We’re incredibly lucky to live in such a stunning area, and we want to take a moment to thank our local farmers for their hard work and commitment to keeping our countryside thriving.”

The police added that the public could support the farming community by sticking to footpaths, keeping dogs under control and taking all litter home.

They should also report anything that doesn’t seem right with “countryside crimes” including hare coursing, thefts of machinery and fuel, and fly-tipping and criminal damage.

The team said: “These crimes don’t just affect farmers; they impact all of us who care about this land. If you see suspicious activity or vehicles in rural areas, report it to us.”

Further north in Oxfordshire – near Charlbury – local celebrity Kaleb Cooper revealed he’d had equipment stolen.

Posting photographs on his Instagram account, the 27-year-old said that his John Deere tractor and gear had been taken overnight between Tuesday, July 29 and Wednesday, July 30.

He said: “Can we please make this as hot as possible! What is going on with England at the moment?”
