The big change Jeremy Clarkson has made to his Cotswolds pub for 2026

Jeremy Clarkson is preparing to introduce a notable update at his Cotswolds pub as he looks ahead to 2026, following another year of intense public interest in the venture.

The former Top Gear and The Grand Tour presenter bought The Windmill pub in Asthall, Oxfordshire, for around £1 million last year, embarking on an extensive renovation project that lasted several months. The venue eventually reopened in August 2024 under a new name — The Farmer’s Dog — marking Clarkson’s latest move into the hospitality world.

Located near Burford, the pub has quickly become a destination in its own right, attracting visitors from across the country. Fans of Jeremy Clarkson have regularly travelled to the Cotswolds to sample the food, atmosphere, and rural setting, turning the once-quiet village pub into one of the area’s most talked-about venues.

The Farmer’s Dog has also gained wider attention through its prominent appearance in the most recent series of Clarkson’s Farm, which aired on Amazon Prime Video across May and June. Cameras followed the day-to-day realities of running the pub, adding another layer to the show’s exploration of rural business life alongside farming.

Now, with 2026 on the horizon, the pub has confirmed a change to its seating layout that will slightly increase availability for customers. In a statement shared with followers, The Farmer’s Dog acknowledged the overwhelming demand it continues to face, particularly during the winter booking period.

“As you’ll know, when January bookings went live at the start of December, they disappeared at their usual, alarming speed,” the statement said. “The internet groaned and the website briefly questioned its own existence.”

However, the pub revealed that recent adjustments to its table configuration have created room for a small number of additional bookings.

“Due to some recent changes to our table configuration, we’re able to release a small number of additional tables for January,” the statement continued. “That’s it. A few extra spots that didn’t exist before.”

The team described the move as an unexpected seasonal bonus, adding: “A festive bonus. A Christmas miracle. If you’ve been meaning to visit in January and assumed it was hopeless, now’s your chance. We wouldn’t hang about though. Miracles have a habit of disappearing.”

Looking further ahead, The Farmer’s Dog is expected to feature once again when Clarkson’s Farm returns next year. Series five of the Amazon Prime show is due for release in 2026 and will consist of eight new episodes, with Clarkson’s pub venture likely to remain a central part of the story as he continues to balance farming, brewing, and hospitality in the Cotswolds.
