The eyewatering amount Jeremy Clarkson has made from Farmer’s Dog
Jeremy Clarkson’s business ventures have taken a major leap forward since his departure from Top Gear in 2015. Over the past few years, Clarkson has not only cemented his place as one of the top names in the entertainment world with Amazon Prime shows like The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm, but he’s also ventured into the hospitality industry, with his pub, the Farmer’s Dog, marking a significant step in his entrepreneurial journey.
Now, as he celebrates one year since opening the Farmer’s Dog, Clarkson’s financial success is becoming even more evident, with millions in earnings tied to his latest business venture, Hawkstone Brewery. The 65-year-old presenter, who is known for his bold opinions and larger-than-life personality, has seen substantial growth in his brewing business over the past year.
According to recently filed accounts for Hawkstone Brewery, its profits have surged dramatically. In fact, the brewery’s total equity has soared from £432,512 to a staggering £3 million over the past year. This figure represents the owner’s stake in the business after subtracting liabilities from assets, and it highlights the impressive growth of Clarkson’s investment. The company has seen an extraordinary jump in assets, with current assets reported at just under £5 million—almost triple the £1.7 million reported the previous year.
Breaking down the numbers further, the brewery’s stock value has increased from £608,932 to £1.9 million, with debtors rising from £906,627 to £1.8 million. Meanwhile, cash reserves have grown from £203,875 to £1.2 million, indicating the business’s overall financial health. However, there has also been an increase in the amount Clarkson’s company owes to its creditors, which rose from £1.6 million to £2.6 million.
The growth of Hawkstone Brewery is not just about numbers. Clarkson’s success is also reflected in the expansion of the company’s workforce. The number of employees has more than doubled, increasing from 28 to 53, as the business continues to grow.
Earlier this year, The Sunday Times reported that Hawkstone’s sales had surged from £7.8 million to an impressive £21.3 million. Despite this rapid growth, the brewery does not meet the threshold for mandatory financial filings with Companies House, meaning these impressive figures may only be the beginning of a much larger story.
Hawkstone Brewery, located in Bourton-on-the-Water in the heart of Gloucestershire, produces a variety of drinks, including beers, ciders, vodkas, and gins. It was originally founded in 2005 by Emma and Rick Keene, but Clarkson’s involvement began in 2021, when he partnered with the brewery to create Hawkstone Lager. Over time, Clarkson bought into the business, eventually taking a stake and rebranding the company as Hawkstone.
The brewery’s rise has been nothing short of impressive, with The Sunday Times naming it the 24th fastest-growing company in Britain. This year, it jumped to 23rd place, further solidifying Clarkson’s role in its success. From a television personality to a successful businessman, Jeremy Clarkson’s entrepreneurial journey is continuing to unfold, with Hawkstone Brewery emerging as one of the brightest spots in his portfolio. Clarkson’s investments and expanding businesses are proving that, after Top Gear, the former motoring journalist has more than just a few tricks up his sleeve.
