Why was Clarkson Farm Season 5 a Nightmare?
COTSWOLDS, ENGLAND — Jeremy Clarkson has never been one to sugarcoat the truth — and this time, he’s warning fans to brace themselves. The outspoken presenter has revealed that the upcoming fifth season of Clarkson’s Farm may be his toughest yet, describing the past year of filming as “a conveyor belt of misery.”
The former Top Gear host made the admission in his latest column for The Sun, where he opened up about the challenges he and his team faced at Diddly Squat Farm over the last 12 months.
“We finished filming the fifth series this week,” Clarkson wrote. “And I’m sure you’re hoping it’ll be a comedic festival of laughter, but it isn’t.”
From Laughs to Labour
Fans tuning in for another lighthearted season filled with adorable farm animals, cheeky banter, and Kaleb Cooper’s signature sass may be in for a surprise. Clarkson revealed that the tone of Season 5 is “a lot heavier” than before, shaped by a series of hardships that tested the crew both physically and emotionally.
According to Clarkson, the year brought a combination of brutal weather, rising costs, and personal health struggles — not to mention the ripple effects of Chancellor Rachel Reeves’s new budget on British farmers. The result, he says, was a relentlessly difficult period that at one point forced the team to stop filming altogether.
“It’s been so hard that we had to send the cameras away,” Clarkson admitted. “We just needed a break.”
Finding Humor in Hardship
Despite the gloom, Clarkson promised that Clarkson’s Farm will still deliver flashes of the humor that made it a hit in the first place. He credited the show’s editors for finding “nuggets of laughter” amid the chaos, and he couldn’t help but praise how stunning the Cotswolds looked on camera.
“The Cotswolds did look fantastic in the relentless sunshine,” he said, even as he described the experience of farming through another challenging year as “knackering.”
Fan Favorites Return
Filming for Clarkson’s Farm Season 5 has now officially wrapped, and the show is expected to premiere on Prime Video in spring 2026. The new season will see the return of fan favorites Kaleb Cooper — Clarkson’s no-nonsense right-hand man — and Lisa Hogan, who manages much of the chaos behind the scenes.
Season 4, released earlier this year, became one of Prime Video’s most-watched factual series and earned the show a National Television Award — setting the bar high for what comes next.
The Future of Diddly Squat
But will Clarkson and his team carry on beyond the fifth season? For now, it seems the answer is a cautious “maybe.”
Clarkson hinted that the crew is taking a short break from filming but stressed that the work on the farm never truly stops.
“Kaleb’s out there now in his tractor,” he wrote. “And after I finish writing this, I’ll be joining him.”
What Lies Ahead
After years of laughter, mishaps, and muddy lessons, Clarkson’s Farm has become more than just a show — it’s a raw and relatable glimpse into the struggles of modern British farming. Season 5 looks set to push that realism even further, showing the grit behind the humor.
Whether it’s Clarkson’s darkest season yet or simply his most honest one, one thing’s for sure — fans will be tuning in.
Clarkson’s Farm Season 5 is expected to stream on Prime Video in spring 2026.
