Did Money Dispute Force Mike Rowe to Exit Deadliest Catch?
Deadliest Catch has recently returned for Season 21. However, this season, many fans are concerned about Mike Rowe, who serves as the series’ narrator. In particular, many are speculating about his future with the show and what is impacting it.
Mike Rowe Has Been Part Of Deadliest Catch Since The Very Start
Rowe is a noted television host. Many know his face for his work on Discovery Channel’s Dirty Jobs.
However, Rowe is also famous for his work with Deadliest Catch. He serves as the show’s narrator for the North American airings of the show.
In fact, it was originally considered early on to have him appear on-camera on the show. He is also one of the show’s long-running cast members.
With the series recently returning for Season 21, fans expected to hear Rowe’s voice again on the show. However, some fans have noticed that they haven’t been hearing as much from him as of late.
Taking to social media, one fan asked, “Is it an editorial change or is he too busy with his other projects/foundation? My thoughts are editorial. His narration brought some insight and humor to the show.”
Some Fans Shared Reasons They Think Rowe, Or At Least His Voice, Isn’t Appearing As Much As He Used To
Others believe that money could be an issue. A few noted that Rowe is has a busy schedule and it could just be an issue of timing. That said, others felt that narrating might not be that time-consuming.
On the other hand, some fans pointed out that Rowe was still in recent episodes. According to these commenters, things might simply be taken out of context. A few suspect it’s just an editing issue, with the show focusing more on drama in the more recent seasons.
As previously reported, fans have been talking about Rowe’s time on the show since August. At the time, it was noted that there wasn’t any news claiming he was fired or leaving the show.
That said, fans continued to debate the issue, suggesting various reasons from money to scheduling issues. Some comments included:
- “Let’s be real, it doesn’t take a huge amount of time to speak at most a half dozen sentences per episode. He certainly could fit that in, regardless of other commitments.”
- “I came here to see if anyone else was feeling lost in the editing of this season. Now that I’m seeing this maybe it is just the fact there’s less narration that makes the story jumps feel all over the place.”
- “He was busy with his foundation, and other business commitments. I looked it up, and he just had preplanned engagements and gigs that he had to attend.”
- “As shows get older everyone wants more money. It’s usually what kills popular shows in the end.”
- “He was in the early part of last night’s episode but missing later on. He’s definitely not been on as much as past seasons, and it’s not a good change.”
- “He’s in every episode. Your cable provider is the cause or settings lol. Wild we are on EP8 and people can’t figure this out.”
- “Am I crazy or did I not hear him this season??”
- “Lotta people are saying money, but I honestly don’t think that’s the reason. I’ve listened to Mike on several podcasts and he comes across as a really humble, down to earth guy. He doesn’t strike me as the kind of person who would demand an amount of money that would be more than Discovery was willing to pay.”
