Kelvin Fletcher and Wife Speak Out After Storm Devastates Farm: “We Could Have Lost Everything”

Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher and wife, Liz, faced devastation on Fletcher’s Family Farm as storm damage nearly destroyed their home

Kelvin Fletcher and his wife, Liz, encountered a significant blow during the most recent episode of Fletcher’s Family Farm, which broadcasts on Sunday. Liz appeared visibly distressed as she discussed the possibility of losing their home once more.

The Fletcher Family were forced to evacuate their farm last year following a catastrophic fire. In the latest instalment, however, the pair were dealt another crushing blow when severe weather struck their property.

Kelvin explained in the voiceover, “Storm season is sweeping through the whole country, causing major floods and devastation, and our farm hasn’t escaped the impact.”

Whilst surveying the destruction, Liz remarked in disbelief, “Gosh, it’s hard to believe that the wind can blow that down, isn’t it?”

Observing the fallen tree which had narrowly missed their family residence, Kelvin noted, “Well, we’re very lucky, because another 10 feet would have been in the lodge,” reports Mirror.

“We would have been homeless again,” Liz responded. “We’ve had every element now. We’ve had fire, floods, and now the wind has just missed the lodge, which must mean that our luck is finally on the way up.

“I don’t know what has gone on this year, but we’ve definitely been put to the test.”

Kelvin then proposed they survey the farm to assess what additional damage the storm had inflicted.

He observed, “I’ve just seen that at the top of the paddock as well, we’ve got a massive tree that’s come down, that’s gone right over some fencing.

“It’s lucky nothing got hurt there, really, isn’t it?” Liz remarked, to which her husband responded, “We might get up there and find the sheep underneath it.”

Whilst climbing the hill, Liz observed, “I talk about Kelvin’s farming trainers, I’ve made the biggest mistake today. White joggers and my favourite boots.

“I don’t know what I was thinking, not my usual attire, but it’s so cold, I’ve got two sets of thermals on, thick socks, and joggers.”

Meanwhile, in the episode, Kelvin readies Sonic to be dispatched for slaughter, bringing him into the barn.

“The day has arrived to say goodbye to our first-ever calf, Sonic, who’s heading off on his final journey,” he explained. “This morning, we’re taking Sonic to, well, there’s no best way to say, I guess, to slaughter really. Sonic is going. So, yeah, bittersweet, really. It’s a bit of a weird one.

“I was thinking about this last night, and I woke up this morning feeling a bit… it is different to a sheep.

“I think it makes it even more difficult because we have got seven cows, and he was our first. You know, his tag number is 001, he’s our first cow. So, I guess we’ll always remember this one,” he continued.

“We’ll always remember Sonic. They say the first is always the hardest, and then, who knows.”

Fletchers Family Farm airs on Sunday at 11.30am on ITV.
