Fletchers' Family Farm

Kelvin Fletcher Opens Up About the Tough Road His Family Has Faced Since the Fire

In the latest episode of Fletchers Family Farm, the former Emmerdale star gave an update to ITV viewers following the farmhouse fire

On Sunday afternoon, viewers of Fletcher’s Family Farm watched as the former Emmerdale actor and his family made preparations for the Royal Cheshire Show.

Throughout the episode, Kelvin Fletcher, who has recently revealed some anticipated new arrivals on the farm, looked after his cattle ahead of the event.

In a voiceover, Kelvin shared with ITV audiences that managing the farm effectively has recently presented its share of ‘challenges’.

He said: “We’ve had a lot of upheaval in our lives after a fire in the farmhouse meant we had to move into temporary rented accommodation.

“While I don’t want to add extra stress, there’s one event in the farming calendar I think is worth adding to our to-do list.”

Chatting to his son, Kelvin revealed they would be attending the Royal Cheshire Show in a few weeks time, reports the Mirror.

Kelvin mentioned to his son they’d be bringing their calves along to the event, which delighted the youngster, who laughed at the prospect of parading them on a lead.

In another segment of the programme, Kelvin discussed one of the ‘hardest things’ about farm life – maintaining everything properly. Nevertheless, he informed ITV audiences that each Thursday, volunteers from the David Lewis Centre provide assistance.

Kelvin, who serves as an ambassador for the charity, said: “As well as supporting fundraising events, they’ve become a big part of our lives on the farm too.”

Whilst the 41-year-old was tending to some hedges, he admitted that maintaining a farm is ‘huge’ and expressed gratitude for the assistance of volunteers.

He added: “It’s not been easy for us as a family these last few months, it’s been really challenging at times because of the fire. So, to have little jobs like this to have help with, it’s made a massive impact.”

The fire occurred last October, when the family were enjoying their first holiday as a family of six. After receiving a call from their neighbour about the blaze, they found their home was uninhabitable, forcing them to temporarily relocate.

During an appearance on This Morning, Kelvin remarked: “It was heartbreaking. We got back, and we obviously weren’t there, so we weren’t harmed, and the animals were ok.

“For us, we took great positives in the fact that we weren’t hurt. It’s just a huge inconvenience; the restorations have started, so there’s light at the end of the tunnel.”
