Kelvin Fletcher shares hopeful progress as farm slowly recovers from devastating blaze

Kelvin Fletcher and his family have been living in temporary accommodation after a fire ripped through their Peak District farmhouse

Kelvin Fletcher revealed he could “see light at the end of a tunnel” as his family edges closer to returning to their farm in the wake of a devastating fire.

The ex-Emmerdale star, along with his wife Liz and their four young children, have been residing in temporary accommodation after flames tore through their Peak District farmhouse whilst they were away.

However, Kelvin – who later confessed the fire was “the stuff of nightmares” – has now disclosed that the family are exploring options to return to the farm, reports the Mirror.

During Sunday’s episode (December 7) of their ITV programme Fletchers’ Family Farm, he and Liz investigated the prospect of installing a lodge on the property, enabling them to be present on site whilst their house undergoes restoration.

“Renovations to the farmhouse are still yet to start,” he explained. “But we’re desperate to get back on the farm. So Liz and I are now on a mission to find a solution. Think about the farm every minute of every day. It’s just weird not being there. There’s a worry, there’s a… It just doesn’t feel the same.”

“It was a funny time for everyone really,” Liz reflected. “We just have to go through it as it happens, I guess.”

She continued: “We’re just so grateful that we get to have temporary accommodation and the plan is to rebuild the house, be back in, and it’ll just be a story to tell.”

Kelvin revealed: “Liz and I want to see if there’s a way we can create a temporary home on the farm. That’ll work for us as a family until the farmhouse renovation is complete.”

The couple subsequently arranged to meet someone who specialises in constructing lodges and cabins, exploring whether they could install a temporary dwelling on their land whilst building work progresses at their main residence.

Following their discussion about options and formulating a strategy, Kelvin expressed that “for me, the lodge can’t come soon enough”.

“After months of uncertainty, it’s exciting to be making plans to get the family back on the farm,” he remarked.

“Definitely feels like there’s light at the end of the tunnel, and the countdown to being back on the farm can begin,” the TV star added.
