Extreme Engineering Meets Raw Determination in Alaska’s Wildest Gold Hunt Yet

“Tighten it up. I’m over a waterfall, dude!”
Those aren’t words you expect to hear on a normal workday—but for Dustin Hurt and his crew, dangling above whitewater rapids in the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness, it’s just another step toward bedrock gold.

With just weeks left in the short mining season, Dustin launches a daring new Skyline cable system—a 600-foot span of steel wire stretching across deadly terrain. It’s a gamble that could either revolutionize their gold recovery… or end in disaster.

First Dredge Delivery: A High-Wire Balancing Act

The team’s first test of the Skyline proves nerve-wracking. Dustin struggles to control the winch system, nearly sending a dredge load into a freefall.

“I’m awful at driving this thing, man,” he admits.
“I don’t think I’m the right man for the job here.”

Crew fabricator Wes Richardson takes over, showing smoother technique as he lowers critical dredge components toward the dive site. Each delivery brings them one step closer to striking gold.

Fred’s Vertical Lift System: From Sled to Success

Meanwhile, Fred Hurt unveils a clever solution to remove massive boulders choking the Trifecta dive hole. Repurposing an old sled, he and his crew engineer a vertical lift system with pulleys and winches to haul out debris—basket by basket.

“Teamwork makes the dream work,” Fred smiles as the first loads surface successfully.

Enter the Dragoid: Fred’s Boulder-Crushing Weapon

To speed things up, Fred deploys the Dragoid, a steel-toothed sled dragged through the creek bed. But its debut hits a snag—literally. A massive boulder derails the pulley system.

“This is not right at all,” Fred mutters as cables slide and anchors shift.

The crew repositions the anchor and tightens the clamps. Finally, the Dragoid roars to life, sending boulders tumbling.

“It’s rolling some BIG rocks now!”
“One hell of a success,” Fred declares.

Carlos’ Whitewater Mission: Risking It All

Back at Golden Gates, Dustin’s winch system needs fine-tuning. To connect it, diver Carlos braves glacial whitewater just above a roaring waterfall.

“Come work in Alaska,” someone jokes. “Do fun things like get killed in Alaska.”

Carlos secures the system and preps for the real test—hauling rocks from underwater using the newly anchored Skyline. Light baskets at first, then heavier loads.

“Keep me safe, Jesus,” Carlos prays before diving in.

Victory at Last: The Rock-Slinging System Works

After weeks of trial and error, the system begins to shine. James hauls 15 baskets of boulders in just four hours.

“Finally!” Dustin beams. “We’re getting better at this.”

Over at Golden Gates, Wes upgrades the winch with steel cable and more power. At last, the crew pulls free the “asteroid boulder” that had blocked all progress.

“We got more done in ONE day than in TWO WEEKS,” Dustin says, elated.

The Road Ahead

With their systems finally working, Dustin and Fred are ready to dig deeper than ever before. The gold lies beneath. The tools are in place.

Now, it’s all about the pull.
