Gold, Grit & Growth: A Week in the Life of Tyler Mahoney

From pushing dirt under the blistering Western Australian sun to launching a nationwide opal-gold collaboration, Tyler Mahoney is proving there’s far more to modern prospecting than a metal detector and luck.

The gold prospector and entrepreneur, known to many through her television appearances on shows like Gold Rush: Parker’s Trail, opened up this week in her first full-length video blog – a raw, unfiltered look into the whirlwind life she leads.

Monday: Reclaiming the Land, One Load at a Time

The week began with boots on red dirt. Mahoney was back on the leases doing critical land reclamation work — a legal requirement under her prospecting license (PW). Before more ground can be opened, former dig sites must be filled in and returned to their natural state.

“Every week is different,” Mahoney says. “This one wasn’t as gold-focused, but it’s all part of it.”

A hiccup hit early: a fuel shortage and a missing ute trapped at the mechanics forced her loader to an abrupt halt. “Not the worst day,” she shrugs, covered in dust but unbothered. “Could’ve been worse.”

Tuesday: From Loader to Laptop — Entrepreneur Mode Engaged

With early morning gym sessions and a clean house under her belt, Tyler shifted gears into the business world. She secured her first vending machine contract — placing wellness-focused machines in local gyms — and shared her self-started, intuitive approach to business.

“I wing everything,” she admits. “It’s always fire, then aim. Say yes, and figure it out later.”

By afternoon, she was sorting gold: nuggets, parcels, specimens — all sourced through her family’s prospecting work. She buys from the family at a fair price, then resells through her online store under her brand The Prospector Club.

“I’ve never sold this much gold before,” she confessed, anxiety buzzing beneath the surface.

Wednesday: Launch Day — Gold, Opals, and Overdrive

By midweek, Mahoney launched one of her biggest online drops yet, featuring not only gold parcels but a special opal collaboration with fellow outback miners, The Young Guns. It was a twelve-hour backend grind — photos, copywriting, website coding, emails, and content.

“This is the part people don’t see,” she said, bleary-eyed but buzzing with pride. “It’s not just digging holes.”

Thursday: Gratitude & Grind

By Thursday morning, the site was nearly sold out. “I’m so grateful,” Mahoney said. “I get nervous every single time — terrified it’ll flop. But every time, you guys show up.”

With more orders than ever, she began the meticulous process of packing gold nuggets, labeling parcels, and prepping shipments. By evening, she was sipping cocktails — still answering DMs — while her brother Kobe poured her a celebratory glass of wine.

Friday–Sunday: From the Bush to the Bash

The weekend saw Mahoney leave the goldfields behind for a road trip to Perth and York, joining friends for a 21st birthday party. The theme? “Naughty Little Devil.” There were horns, champagne, and late-night snacks — a hard-earned breather after a hectic launch week.

“I worked so hard this week,” she said. “I accidentally snapped at Kaye [a close friend] from stress. But we got through it.”

Monday Wrap: Looking Back, Moving Forward

As Monday rolled around again, Mahoney was back at it — cleaning sheds, replying to emails, and prepping for her next adventure: a trip to Bali. But she paused long enough to upload her weekly vlog and thank her audience.

“I love my job. I love this community,” she said. “This is my first weekly vlog. Tell me what you want more of. Should I vlog Bali? I think I will.”
