Gold Rush Comes to Greenville: Aussie Prospector Brings Outback Treasure and Treasure Hunt to Town

In a dazzling display of international adventure, legacy, and literal gold, Australian gold prospector Tyler Mahoney has arrived in Greenville, turning heads and turning up the excitement with stories of striking it rich in the remote Outback—and giving locals a chance to do the same.

The fourth-generation “gold digger” (as she playfully calls herself) has made the journey from the blazing deserts of Western Australia to the lush streets of Greenville for a collaboration with Richmond Auctions, where she’ll be showcasing rare, natural gold nuggets in what’s expected to be the largest auction of Australian gold ever held on U.S. soil.

“We’re so excited to be here,” Mahoney said, beaming during a live segment with local media. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime event. We’re bringing over some of the most stunning nuggets I’ve personally found in the Outback—some are worth thousands.”

Gold Fever Runs Deep

Mahoney isn’t just a media darling—she’s a bona fide prospector whose family has chased gold through four generations. “It’s in our blood,” she said. “My biggest personal find was $150,000 worth of gold in one day. We were ten hours from civilization, camped out in the bush, and I literally hit the motherlode.”

But it’s not all glitter and glamour. She shared that the work is grueling, involving sweltering heat (115°F), relentless flies, and long stretches without a single nugget. “As my dad says, ‘It’s baked beans or lobster out there.’ You never know what you’re gonna get.”

Greenville Treasure Hunt

To kick off the gold auction excitement, Mahoney has launched a gold treasure hunt right here in Greenville. Beginning at 10:00 AM today, clues will be posted on her Instagram (@tylermani) and The Prospectors Club Facebook page, guiding treasure hunters to three hidden boxes—each containing $1,000 worth of natural Australian gold.

“We just want to have fun, meet the locals, and bring a little Outback excitement to town,” Mahoney explained. “These are natural gold nuggets I found myself—rare and absolutely beautiful.”

Clues will be posted at 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, and noon, with each box hidden in a secret location around Greenville. “Think of it as the ultimate Easter egg hunt—but with real gold,” she laughed.

From Bedrock to Auction Block

Mahoney’s partnership with Richmond Auctions will culminate in a massive late-summer auction, featuring some of the largest and most unique nuggets ever exported from Australia.

“These aren’t bullion bars,” she emphasized. “Natural nuggets carry a premium because they’re rare and can’t be replicated. They’re pieces of history.”

And for those who might have family gold or passed-down nuggets lying around? “Do your research,” Mahoney advised. “You could be sitting on something much more valuable than you think.”

A Golden Opportunity

Greenville might be far from the red sands of Australia’s goldfields, but for one day—and perhaps one unforgettable summer—it’s the center of a new kind of gold rush. With excitement high, Mahoney’s visit is more than just a curiosity—it’s a celebration of heritage, hustle, and the enduring magic of treasure hunting.

And who knows? You might just strike gold before lunchtime.
