Gold Rush Star Tyler Mahoney Reveals $150,000 Gold Discovery & Treasure Hunt in Greenville
All the way from the scorching Australian Outback, fourth-generation gold prospector Tyler Mahoney has landed in Greenville, and she’s turning heads with a treasure hunt and a trunk full of real Australian gold.
“It’s a small trip from Australia,” Tyler laughed during a local morning interview. “But it’s so worth it. We’re absolutely loving Greenville and are so excited to be here.”
Tyler, who proudly carries the nickname “Gold Digger,” comes from a long line of gold prospectors. “My whole family lives out bush, and we find gold for a living. It’s in our blood,” she explained. “You’ve probably heard of gold fever—once it’s in you, you’re done.”
And she’s not exaggerating. Her biggest single find? “About $150,000 worth of gold in an ironstone load. We were 10 hours from the nearest town, camped out bush. It was my lucky day—I hit the motherlode, literally.”
But life as a gold prospector isn’t always glamorous. “My dad has a saying: it’s either baked beans or lobster. There’s no in-between,” she said. “You deal with 115°F heat, flies, no reception… but the thrill of finding gold makes it all worth it.”
Tyler is in town to launch an exclusive partnership with Richmond Auctions, where she’ll be showcasing and auctioning rare, natural Australian gold nuggets later this summer. “It’s going to be the biggest auction of its kind,” she said. “This just doesn’t happen. We’re bringing over huge, one-of-a-kind gold specimens that I’ve personally prospected.”
To build excitement, she’s also kicking off a live gold treasure hunt right here in Greenville.
“We’ve hidden three black boxes—each containing $1,000 worth of real gold nuggets I found myself—in secret locations,” she announced. “At 10 AM, 11 AM, and noon, we’ll post clues to their locations on my Instagram and Facebook pages (@tylermani and @theprospectorsclub). It’s all about getting people involved and sharing the adventure.”
And for locals who may have inherited a nugget or two? Tyler shared this advice: “Natural gold nuggets carry a premium—they’re not the same as bullion. Do your research. You might get more than the spot price if you know what you’ve got.”
With just hours to go before the treasure hunt begins, Greenville is buzzing with golden excitement. “It’s such a fun way to connect with people,” Tyler said. “And after this, just a quick 30-hour trip back to Australia!”
