Gold Rush

One Last Shot: The Yukon Miners’ Final Stand

With gold prices soaring to historic highs, there’s no room for hesitation on Gold Rush Season 15, Episode 22. Rick Ness, Parker Schnabel, and Tony Beets are battling the cold, broken equipment, exhausted crews, and looming deadlines to finish strong.

As winter begins its icy descent across the Yukon, these miners know their final decisions could make or break the season. For some, it’s about survival. For others, legacy.

Rick Ness: Gambling Big in a Race Against Time

Rick Ness took a big gamble this season, investing over a million dollars into a bold new claim at Vegas Valley — and it looked promising. Last week alone, his crew pulled in $670,000 worth of gold.

But uncertainty hangs over his future. Water rights at his Duncan Creek claim are still unresolved, with no guarantee he can mine there next year. This could be a make-or-break season.

Rick left the claim to meet with his water license agent in Vancouver, leaving trusted friend Brian Zeremba in charge. Unfortunately, rising groundwater flooded the dig site after the crew dug below the water table, turning the cut into a muddy mess. With tensions rising, foreman Buzz Lago voiced serious concerns.

They tried to drain the site using a pump, but flooding forced a wash plant shutdown — costing time and gold. Hoping to regain momentum, Z shifted focus to the old pad at Rally Valley, but more breakdowns followed.

When Z’s loader failed, Ryan Cantoniusly salvaged a sensor from Ness’s side-by-side to get it running again. Still, the setbacks added up.

Rick returned from Vancouver frustrated — still no clear answers on his water license. At weigh-in, the crew recovered just 122.82 oz worth over $320,000 — less than half of what they hoped for. With 200 ounces still to go, time is running out. But the team isn’t giving up.

Parker Schnabel: Saying Goodbye to a Legend and Pivoting for Paydirt at Dominion Creek

Parker Schnabel is still fighting to save his season — and his finances. With winter closing in, every minute counts.

For a final shot at gold, Parker targeted Bridge Cut, a thawed patch he believed still held promise. Working alongside trusted crew member Tyson Lee, they fed pay into Big Red — until it finally gave out. After 12 seasons and over 34,000 ounces, the legendary wash plant was done.

Wasting no time, Parker called in “Bob,” a massive idle wash plant sitting unused at Sulfur Creek. In just 8 hours, the crew had it moved and running at Dominion Creek.

Their efforts paid off:

  • Big Red’s last run: 96.02 oz (~$250,000)

  • Bob’s debut: 290.05 oz (~$766,000)

  • Roxan at Elbow Cut: 276.01 oz

The team surged past 6,088 oz, worth over $16 million — but Dominion is still behind. Parker’s race against winter isn’t over yet.

Tony Beets: A Family Empire Marches to Gold Glory

Tony Beets, the King of the Klondike, was just 180 ounces shy of his 5,000-ounce goal in Episode 22 — and pushing hard to finish strong.

Plans to activate a third wash plant at the Hester Cut were delayed by swampy terrain, but Monica Beets proposed a pivot: re-mining old tailings with modern tech. Tony backed the idea — and surprised her with a $500,000 custom wash plant built for tough terrain.

With help from son Mike and nephew Michael, the Beets crew fired up the new plant just in time for the final push.

At weigh-in:

  • Sluselot (Indian River): 205.80 oz (~$543,000)

  • Mike’s Traum (Paradise Hill): 264.76 oz

That brought their season total to 5,290 oz, worth nearly $14 million. For Tony, it’s more than money — it’s a legacy of family and grit.

As Gold Rush Season 15 races toward its finale, the pressure is at an all-time high.

  • Rick Ness faces water license uncertainty that could end his mining career.
  • Parker Schnabel has retired Big Red and taken a last-chance gamble with “Bob.”
  • Tony Beets has already hit his goal — and isn’t slowing down.

With one episode left, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

  • Will Rick find the gold he needs?
  • Can Parker hit his target before winter shuts him down?
  • Will the Beets crew finish even stronger?

Don’t miss the epic Season 15 finale — where fortunes, futures, and legacies hang in the balance.
