PARKER SCHNABEL LAUNCHES $25 MILLION GOLD GAMBLE ON DOMINION CREEK
Dawson City — High hopes and heavy machinery are back in motion as young mining mogul Parker Schnabel kicks off the most ambitious season of his career on the legendary gold fields of the Klondike.
Gold was first discovered in this region in 1896, sparking the historic gold rush. Now, over a century later, Schnabel is banking on his 7,500-acre Dominion Creek claim to deliver once again. After uncovering a 4,500-ounce bonanza last year in the aptly named Money Pit, Parker is now targeting an astonishing 10,000-ounce season—worth an estimated $25 million at current gold prices.
But with only one section of stripped ground ready—the Long Cut—success depends on relentless sluicing and the flawless operation of his massive wash plant, Big Red. To stay on target, Parker’s team needs to average 430 ounces of gold every week for six straight months—a feat never before attempted by the crew.
“We’ve never tried to go this big,” Schnabel admitted. “We’ve got a lot of ground to cover and not a lot of time for mistakes.”
The crew spent weeks relocating and assembling Big Red near the gravel piles left behind by Dominion’s previous owner. These piles, once part of the Money Pit excavation, are believed by Schnabel to still contain untapped pay dirt. Despite early optimism, the first cleanup of the season yielded only 5.6 ounces—valued at around $14,000—making it the worst cleanup in Parker’s Gold Rush career.
“Yeah man… Worst cleanup ever,” crew member Chris joked, half in disbelief, after the tally was revealed.
With 9,994.4 ounces still to find and no room for error, the pressure is mounting fast. Parker, however, remains determined to push through.
“This season is all about sluice, sluice, sluice,” he said. “We’re not just chasing gold—we’re chasing the future of this company.”
As gold prices soar globally, all eyes are on Dominion Creek. Whether it’s a gold-laden dream or an overburdened gamble, one thing is certain: Parker Schnabel is all in.
