Parker Schnabel may have become a millionaire and a household name thanks to Discovery’s hit series Gold Rush, but when it comes to love, the 30-year-old gold miner admits the ground remains unbroken.
As Gold Rush Season 15 kicks off, Parker is gunning for his biggest season yet, aiming to pull in more than eight figures worth of gold. Yet despite his massive success in mining, Parker says he’s still far from achieving one of his most personal dreams: starting a family.
In a recent interview, Schnabel opened up about the challenges of dating while living a life that’s anything but ordinary. “Explaining my job sounds ridiculous,” he said. “It’s hard to make working in the wilderness, living in a trailer, and washing rocks for gold sound romantic.” Even simple conversations, like answering “What do you do for a living?” can feel absurd, he admits.
Fans will recall Parker’s most serious relationship with Australian veterinary nurse Ashley Yule, whom he met during a trip to Australia in 2016. Ashley joined him during Gold Rush Season 7, even working in the gold room alongside his longtime crew member Chris Doumitt. But the pressures of mining and filming eventually took their toll, and the couple parted ways.
“I didn’t make her a priority,” Parker later admitted, calling the breakup one of his biggest personal regrets.
Since then, Schnabel has kept his love life largely private. Rumors once swirled when he posted a playful photo with National Geographic researcher Sheena Cowell, but her social media suggested she was already in a relationship. Fans also speculated about his undeniable on-screen chemistry with Australian gold prospector Tyler Mahoney, his co-star in Gold Rush: Parker’s Trail. Despite the buzz, neither have confirmed a romance.
For now, Parker remains single and focused. He’s made it clear he hopes to start a family one day—but only after his mining days are behind him. And when that time comes, he says he won’t pressure his children into following in his footsteps.
“I want them to find their own path,” he shared, reflecting on how it was his grandfather, not his father, who sparked his love for mining.
