Rick Ness Turns to Old Friend Parker Schnabel After Mining Setbacks

Tensions are rising on Gold Rush as fan favorite Rick Ness faces one setback after another, forcing him to reconnect with old boss Parker Schnabel in hopes of saving his season.

Rick, who famously broke away from Parker’s crew years ago to strike out on his own, found himself battling failing equipment, staff shortages, and a critical flat tire that brought his wash plant to a standstill. With time ticking and gold targets slipping away, Rick knew exactly who to call: the gold mining wunderkind himself.

“You’re acting like a toddler, Rick. You’re making an enemy out of me.”
“It’s not what I intended, Parker, man. I’ve got an opportunity and I’m going to take it,” Rick admitted during their long-overdue meeting.

The reunion marked the first time the pair had spoken face to face in years, following a rocky split when Rick quit as Parker’s foreman to chase his own dream. Despite harsh words in the past, the handshake — and a well-timed joke — showed old friendships die hard in the Klondike.

Rick’s crew, now down to the bone, is feeling the heat. New recruit Morgan Lauren voiced frustration over outdated, broken-down gear. Her loader, missing its front cab, left her covered in dirt daily — until a flat tire finally forced a shutdown of Rick’s wash plant.

Meanwhile, Parker’s own season hasn’t been without drama. Pipeline failures, busted drive shafts, and a relentless race to beat last year’s 7,500-ounce record have kept his crew on edge. Yet Parker’s knack for pushing his team to deliver remains unmatched, with massive gold hauls and even a once-in-a-lifetime fossil find: a pair of perfectly preserved woolly mammoth tusks.

Despite their million-dollar value, Parker says he’ll keep them — a rare find that even outshines gold for the Gold Rush star.

Back at Rick’s camp, a small triumph came thanks to Buzz, a crew member who fixed an old rock truck against the odds, earning Rick’s trust — and perhaps a permanent spot on Team Ness.

“There’s pressure here, no doubt about it,” Rick said, raising a drink to the few loyal hands he has left. “But we’ll keep this plant running and see some gold come out of it yet.”

Whether Rick’s reunion with Parker will be enough to keep his operation alive remains to be seen — but if Gold Rush has taught fans anything, it’s that friendships can survive anything… even gold.
