Gold Rush

What Happened When Parker Meets Tyler Mahoney For The First Time ??

In a new gold-hunting collaboration, American miner Parker Schnabel is turning to Australia for fresh opportunities — and he’s found the perfect local partner in fourth-generation prospector Tyler Mahoney.

Parker, known for his adventures in the Yukon, recently reached out to Tyler’s father while planning a trip to Australia. “We’re hoping to suss out the mining situation down under,” he explained. “We need a solid local guide.” Though her father was too busy, he didn’t hesitate to point Parker in Tyler’s direction: “She’s a fourth-generation prospector — knows a few things.”

Tyler, who runs her own gold prospecting business across Australia, was quick to show interest. “I teach miners all over the country how to find gold,” she said. “I’ve got contacts in every state, so I can definitely work something out.”

The chemistry between the two was instant, and Parker extended an invitation for Tyler to visit the Yukon to see his operation firsthand. Tyler agreed without hesitation — though she was warned to buy a coat. “It’s minus five here,” Parker joked. “It’s 40 degrees where I’m from,” Tyler shot back with a smile.

Once in Dawson City, Tyler got a full introduction to Parker’s world — from camp tours to discussions about mining techniques. Tyler shared insights into dry blowing, a method used in Western Australia where water is scarce. “It’s like a wet plant but with no water. Not perfect, but you get a lot more than with just a detector.”

Parker was impressed. “She’s smart, passionate, and switched on — the kind of person you want helping you find ground.”

The pair discussed expectations. Tyler offered to help Parker find productive mining leases in Australia, suggesting a simple spotter’s fee arrangement. “We’ve just got to trust each other,” she said. “That’s the most important part in gold mining.”

Their bond grew stronger during a light-hearted initiation at a local bar, where Tyler braved the infamous Sour Toe Cocktail — a Yukon tradition involving a shot of liquor with a real, mummified toe. “You can drink it fast or slow, but your lips must touch the toe,” the bartender warned. Tyler didn’t back down.

As plans take shape for Parker’s venture into Australia, Tyler is optimistic. “I love gold. I love being in the bush. I think it’s going to be a really good trip.”

The collaboration marks an exciting chapter for both miners, bridging continents and goldfields in search of the ultimate strike.
