Moonshiners’ Troy Halsey Rushed Into Emergency Surgery in Critical Condition After Artery Rupture.

Moonshiner’s fans were shocked and concerned this week after learning that Troy Hollyy, a familiar face from the franchise, was rushed into emergency surgery.

The news came through a series of emotional updates shared by his wife, Sonia Hollyy, who asked fans for their prayers during a life-threatening medical emergency.

Troy, who is known to fans for his appearance on Moonshiner’s Master Distiller, where he took on the challenge of making moonshine from raw honey, faced a terrifying health scare after a major artery ruptured.

According to Sonia, the main artery running from Troy’s heart through his stomach and down to his legs suddenly burst, causing internal bleeding.

In a Facebook post, she explained:

“Everyone, please say prayers for my old man, Troy Holly. His main artery has ruptured. He has bled internally. He was immediately airlifted to a nearby hospital and after being stabilized, he was flown again to Columbia University Hospital for emergency surgery.”

Doctors were candid about how serious the situation was, telling Sonia that most patients in similar conditions don’t survive. The fact that Troy made it to surgery at all was considered a miracle.

Fellow Moonshiner Doug Hobbs also posted on Facebook, asking fans to lift up prayers for his “brother and shine,” praising Troy as a very cool guy who desperately needed support.

Sonia later shared a critical update following the surgery:

“He is out of surgery. They had to take one of his kidneys, but they were able to graph over the artery that was leaking.”

She explained that Troy has a history of polycystic kidney disease, which further complicated the operation.

In another update, she added:

“They needed to use some of the kidney tissue for a graft, and so the hole is fixed. He has one kidney and is in recovery. They said now he will go to CICU.”

As the Moonshiners community rallies around the Hollyys, fans are remembering Troy’s contribution to the show — especially his memorable turn in the Master Distiller episode “Honey Means Money.” He was one of two chosen to create moonshine using raw honey, a rare and risky ingredient.
