Moonshiners Legend Kenny Law Is GONE – But What He Left Behind Will Change the Show Forever

Kenny Law, a beloved star of the Discovery Channel series Moonshiners, has tragically passed away at the age of 68. The news was shared on the official Moonshiners Facebook page Thursday, with a heartfelt tribute to the long-time cast member. The statement read, “We’re deeply saddened about Kenny Law’s passing. He was a treasured member of our Moonshiners community since season eight. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Shine on, Kenny.”

While the cause of death has not been publicly revealed, Law’s passing marks the loss of a cherished figure in the Moonshiners family. The show, which debuted in 2011, has followed individuals in the Appalachian region who create and distill their own moonshine, showcasing their skill, determination, and dedication to the craft. Over the course of 14 seasons, Kenny Law became a well-known and respected presence on the show.

Law had a long history in the moonshine industry, having grown up making and running shine with his cousin, Henry Law, under the guidance of his uncle, Amos Law, a world-renowned outlaw moonshiner. In fact, the Law family’s legacy in whiskey-making spans over six decades. Kenny and Henry Law operated their own distillery, Law’s Choice Distillery, in Virginia, where they continued the family’s rich tradition. According to the distillery’s website, the Law family has been making moonshine for over 60 years.

Kenny Law’s biography on the Moonshiners page of Discovery Channel shared a pivotal moment in his life. Law was faced with a choice when prosecutors demanded that he betray his fellow moonshiners or face years in prison. True to his code, Kenny chose to honor his commitment to the moonshining community and served time in federal prison alongside his cousin, Henry, rather than cooperate with authorities. This decision only further solidified his status as a legendary figure in the moonshining world.

Over the years, Law was a key member of the Moonshiners cast, known for his authenticity, dedication, and integrity. He had an unshakable bond with his cousin Henry, and together, they built a strong presence in the moonshine community. Kenny’s personality and legacy resonated with fans, who admired his tough yet down-to-earth demeanor.

In addition to the Law family, other notable stars of Moonshiners include Mark Ramsey, Tim Smith, Digger Manes, and Amanda Bryant, who all shared in the emotional loss of their co-star. Bryant took to Instagram on Wednesday to honor Kenny, writing, “Last night we lost a true Moonshine legend, Kenny Law. You will be dearly missed, it was an honor to know you and call you my friend. Rest easy, big guy. Prayers for the whole Law family in this time. They are all very good friends of mine, and my heart breaks for each of them. Rest in peace, Kenny Law. Much respect to you always.”

Kenny Law’s passing is a profound loss to the Moonshiners family and the moonshine industry at large. His contributions to both the show and the craft will not be forgotten, and his legacy will live on in the memories of his fellow moonshiners and fans.
