Moonshiners Season 14 finale: Mark and Digger evade arrest as the law closes in
The Season 14 finale of Moonshiners delivered an action-packed episode filled with daring moves, innovative techniques, and increasing pressure from law enforcement. As the cast members pushed the limits of their craft, they faced heightened risks, making for a dramatic conclusion to the season.
Mark and Digger’s Close Call with the Law
Veteran moonshiners Mark Ramsey and Digger Manes found themselves under intense scrutiny after noticing weeks of surveillance by an unidentified pickup truck. The duo, suspecting law enforcement involvement, took swift action to dismantle their still site with the help of fellow moonshiners Kelly and Amanda.
Despite their precautions, their fears were realized when a sheriff’s vehicle began tailing them, leading to an encounter with Captain David Robertson, a persistent adversary in their moonshining endeavors. Both Mark and Digger were handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol car after a search of their truck revealed a copper still. However, due to a strategic hole placed in the still by their associate Kenny Law, the equipment was deemed inoperable, preventing an immediate arrest.
Mike and Jerry’s Innovative Distillation Approach
Meanwhile, moonshiners Mike Cockrell and Jerry Benson were forced to adapt after losing access to their original still site. In an effort to recover losses, Mike aimed for a 40-gallon run but had to settle for a smaller output of 25 gallons of eggnog shine, while Jerry produced 20 gallons of peppermint shine.
Determined to maximize efficiency, the duo designed a groundbreaking column still capable of producing two different proofs simultaneously. Utilizing a sugar wash for a neutral spirit, they successfully infused two distinct flavors at the end of the distillation process. Their innovative approach not only allowed them to fulfill multiple orders at once but also underscored their ability to evolve their craft and stay ahead of legal competitors.
Kenny and Tickle Aid in Lavender Moonshine Venture
In his final moonshine run, the late Kenny Law partnered with Steven Ray Tickle and Henry Law to assist renowned moonshiner Danielle Parton in crafting a unique lavender-infused moonshine.
While Kenny expressed concerns about the impact of essential oils on the distillation process, he proposed using a high-proof liquor to counteract potential complications. Utilizing a mini-submarine pot still, the team meticulously redistilled Danielle’s liquor, a delicate process due to the flammable properties of the ingredients.
Their efforts resulted in a successful batch of lavender moonshine, impressing Danielle and inspiring her to consider commercial production of the distinctive spirit. The venture also sparked interest in Tickle, who saw potential in producing an illegal version of the lavender moonshine to complement Danielle’s legal operation.
A Season Finale Packed with Tradition and Tension
The episode encapsulated the dangers and ingenuity required in the underground moonshining industry. From Mark and Digger’s evasive maneuvers to Mike and Jerry’s technical advancements, and Kenny’s final contribution to a new distilling venture, the finale highlighted the ever-evolving nature of the trade.
As law enforcement scrutiny continues to tighten, these moonshiners prove that their craft is about more than just making liquor—it’s about outsmarting the system while preserving a time-honored tradition.
