Ancient Tools, Mysterious Relics, and Portuguese Ties Deepen the Oak Island Enigma
The legendary treasure hunt on Oak Island has taken another compelling turn. In a recent episode of The Curse of Oak Island, Marty Lagina, Gary Drayton, and the team uncovered a significant metallic anomaly on Lot 8, setting off a new chapter in their ongoing quest.
Using magnetometry, the team detected a large metallic object underground. Excavation led to the discovery of several intriguing artifacts, including a garnet brooch, a bridal horse fitting, and a beveled piece of iron believed to be part of an ancient cutting tool—possibly an ADS.
“This area was once thought to be uninhabited,” noted Marty Lagina. “But this kind of craftsmanship suggests human activity—and maybe even a settlement.”
To investigate further, the team is seeking additional excavation permits and consulting with experts on the relics’ origins. These finds could indicate a previously unknown period of human presence and craftsmanship on the island.
Templar Symbols in Portugal Strengthen Theories
The Laginas’ international research has also gained traction. During their travels in Portugal, the team visited ancient sites linked to the Knights Templar. At the Convento in Tomar, a 12th-century church and fortress, they found a symbol identical to one seen on Oak Island’s infamous “hatch stone”—a cross surrounded by four dots.
Further discoveries, including Portuguese cannonballs and similarities in drainage systems, continue to suggest ties between Oak Island and medieval European history.
Buried Silver, Cement, and Hints of Osmium
Back on the island, researchers have detected traces of gold and other metals in a mysterious cement patch. Some speculate the rare element osmium may even be buried deep within the Money Pit.
Earlier ground-penetrating radar scans also revealed what was thought to be a crossbow bolt. However, experts now believe it may be a Roman javelin over 2,000 years old.
