Fans Believe Oak Island Treasure May Have Been Discovered Off-Camera
Often, reality shows are sometimes accused of being more satire than reality, with things staged for the cameras. However, some fans are starting to suspect The Curse of Oak Island of one big twist. Namely, some think the crew already found treasure in the area, but are bidding their time before unveiling it. Taking to social media, many fans are debating the story.
A Search For Mysterious Treasure Haunts The Curse of Oak Island
On The Curse of Oak Island, brothers Marty and Rick Lagina lead a team of treasure hunters on Oak Island. The place is famously shrouded in mystery, with stories alleging of a treasure found somewhere in the area.
The team has had some notable finds on the show, including a Spanish copper coin or even human bones. However, a massive treasure hasn’t been found as of yet.
However, some fans suspect that’s not the whole story. Taking to Reddit, one fan even claimed, “They already found it…”
As the fan continued, “I’ve always just assumed that it was found pretty early with one of their scans.” They also suspected “that they put the memorial right on top of it to drag the show out.”
On The Other Hand, Some Fans Questioned If There Even Was A Treasure
Notably, some fans had alternate ideas. Some suspect there really isn’t a treasure left to find on the island. As they put it, “The McGinnis family already said they found a chest in the money pit.”
“Samuel ball had Spanish coins he repeatedly found on his property. The ‘treasure’ was gone decades before Rick and [Marty] showed up.”
However, another commenter agreed that the original poster’s idea had merit. As they explained, “That is very possible given how it seems they are randomly digging then stop suddenly and move somewhere else.” This caused another fan to comment, “Yes that’s the only explanation.”
As previously reported, this isn’t the first time fans have suspected the series of “editing” things to fit the series. According to Monsters & Critics, fans shared that it sometimes feels like items were placed in an area so the crew could find it.
At the time, it was noted, if this was the case, this could just be done so that the show has usable footage of any finds, as opposed to the show being truly fake. Other fans trusted the series, with some joking that if it was faked, the crew would probably have made better finds.
On the more recent post, many fans took the idea of the treasure being real with good humor. Some comments included:
- “Yeah, but did it smell of wood ??”
- “That would be a top pocket find.”
- “So, we ran out of water.”
