The Curse of Oak Island

The BIGGEST FIND Since the Money Pit

Nova Scotia — The long-running mystery of Oak Island continues to captivate as Rick and Marty Lagina push deeper into the enigmatic Garden Shaft. The team, featured on the popular series The Curse of Oak Island, is now zeroing in on a massive cavity called H8 — which they suspect may contain a wooden treasure chest. However, structural instability has made further excavation dangerous.

Despite setbacks, the brothers are determined to deepen the shaft and carefully examine the potentially significant tunnel network. They believe it could lead to the legendary “long S vault,” possibly tied to Oak Island’s storied past of treasure, pirates, and secret societies.

The H8 discovery echoes a theory by geologist Terry Matheson, who suggested the treasure chest may have been disturbed or damaged in earlier digs. This revelation has only strengthened the team’s resolve.

While much focus remains on the Garden Shaft, attention has now also shifted toward the island’s southeast wetlands — near the original Money Pit. There, the crew has explored the old stone road and uncovered artifacts from deep within the marsh. These include ancient coins, fragments of metal tools, and pottery, offering a glimpse into the island’s historical complexity.

Among the most notable finds are a Venetian lead trading token from the 14th century, glass beads dated between the 1500s and 1600s, and tools potentially linked to Sir William Phips. The discoveries were made with the aid of cutting-edge metal detectors and ground-penetrating radar.

In Lot 5, the team came across what could be remnants of ship decking and large boulders — raising speculation of a potential landing area used by the Knights Templar or early explorers. The stone structures and unusual soil deposits resemble past Money Pit materials, suggesting a possible connection.

The intrigue only grows with the historical items unearthed: a military officer’s button of unknown origin, a Spanish 8 maravedís copper coin dated 1652, and several smaller coins, possibly representing different denominations.

Most captivating was a coin featuring what appeared to be a Knights Templar cross — discovered in Season 2, Episode 5, “The 90th Stone.” Experts and fans alike speculate whether this could imply a deeper Templar link to the island’s mystery.

As Rick Lagina and Gary Drayton continue leading the investigation, enthusiasm among the team remains high. They maintain meticulous records of every find, recognizing that any artifact could be a missing piece of the treasure puzzle.

With every shovel of dirt and every sonar scan, the legend of Oak Island only deepens — along with hopes of a definitive breakthrough in one of North America’s greatest unsolved mysteries.
