Jeremy Clarkson makes big decision as ‘co-star’ becomes hit with viewers

The TV star has apparently taken a step that could be good for business after a pig on Clarkson’s Farm won over fans

Jeremy Clarkson is apparently banking on his pet pig, Richard Ham, becoming a profitable venture.

The pig, who was the smallest of the litter and saved from slaughter on Clarkson’s Farm, has now achieved television fame. And the presenter has submitted an application to the UK’s Intellectual Property Office to trademark the name.

It seems the former Top Gear and Grand Tour star plans to use the pig’s name for a range of products that could include clothing, household items, gardening equipment, recipe books and even festive decorations, according to the Daily Star.

The miniature pig won over viewers during the fourth series of the popular programme about life on Jeremy’s Diddly Squat Farm. The tiny runt touched audiences when he struggled to gain weight and had to be separated from his fellow piglets to avoid harassment.

Jeremy, 65, faced a tough decision over whether to cull the small animal but chose to spare him.

His partner Lisa Hogan recently revealed that the pig, named after Jeremy’s former Top Gear colleague Richard Hammond, is thriving more than ever.

Updating fans of Clarkson’s Farm on social media about his remarkable development, she shared footage of the pig with the caption: “Look who it is!!! It’s Richard ‘porker’ Ham.”

As the now-gigantic swine emerged from his pen, she exclaimed: “Who recognises this beast?

“It’s Richard Ham. Yes, you’re huge. Yes, it’s because you’ve been hand fed for all these months.”

Jeremy has been quick to seek trademark protection for a variety of names, product titles and catchphrases from the programme.

These include ‘Snail Juice’ – a skincare product line – ‘Diddly Squat Drive’, representing one of the fragrances available in the farm shop, and ‘Grubby Farmer’, Jeremy’s toiletries and scent collection.

He has secured trademark rights for ‘I am a f***er’ – featured on t-shirts sold through his Diddly Squat Farm Shop website. Furthermore, he has put protections in place for ‘I did a thing’ – his signature phrase which gained popularity during the programme.

He has also submitted applications for ‘The Farmer’s Dog’ – the name of his establishment from the show – covering merchandise such as beer mats, glassware and beer pitchers, tea towels, clothing, beer, cider and vodka.
