Our Yorkshire Farm’s Amanda Owen says ‘that would be silly’ in family update
Amanda Owen has shared an update from her farm with daughter Clemmy as the second episode of the family’s Channel 5 documentary airs on More 4
Amanda Owen has shared some words of wisdom while working on their farm in high winds alongside her daughter, Clemmy.
The 51-year-old rose to prominence through her Channel 5 programme, Our Yorkshire Farm, documenting the challenges and triumphs of agricultural life. The show debuted on-screen in 2018, and viewers were instantly captivated by Amanda, her then-husband Clive and their children.
By 2024, Channel 4 had commissioned Our Farm Next Door, a ten-part series documenting the family’s restoration of a two-century-old farmhouse in the Yorkshire Dales.
Amanda continues to live and work at Ravenseat Farm with her former spouse, Clive, and their nine children. Following the second series in 2025, viewers can catch the latest instalment on More 4 this Monday evening (26 January) at 9pm.
The Yorkshire Shepherdess turned to Instagram on Sunday (January 25) to share an insight into her lifestyle alongside her daughter Clemmy.
Amanda explained how only one week ago, she was in London with her daughter for a television interview and a stay in a nice hotel.
On Monday, 19 January, Amanda and her daughters, Clemmy and Nancy, appeared on This Morning and discussed their countryside exploits with presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.
Their exciting trip to the ITV daytime show, which is filmed in London, remained on Amanda and Clemmy’s minds as they discussed the contrast between working on their farm and the glamour of London life.
In a video clip, the mother and daughter were seen standing in a field, hoods up, working against strong winds. Amanda reminisced about their interview on This Morning, as Clemmy took a bite out of a raw turnip.
Looking at the camera, Amanda said, “On room service, you were ordering something unpronounceable that came under a beautiful silver cloche. And now where are you?”
“Eating turnips in the field, in bad weather”, Clemmy replied as Amanda continued: “I don’t suppose, no, I’m not going to say where you prefer because that’s the thing, that would be silly.”
Amanda went on to explain: “Both in good measure, that’s the thing. I think the idea that you are either urban or rural is actually wrong because there’s nothing I like more than heading to London and seeing stuff, and enjoying London life. But equally, here.”
“Eating turnips”, Clemmy confirmed as her mum interjected: “Eating turnips, this is where it’s all at and let’s be honest with you, it’s this bit that enabled us to do that bit.”
Clemmy added, “Go to London”, while Amanda confirmed, “You’ve sussed it”, as her daughter added: “You’ve got to do the hard work to get the reward.”
Amanda finished the video by proudly announcing, “Out of the mouth of babes”.
Friends and fans of Amanda rush to the comments section to compliment the duo on their hard work, with one person writing: “Absolutely love this video! We all need a Clemmy in our lives! Well done! Your beautiful children are an inspiration to us all! Xxxx.”
A second stated: “Love the contrasts, Go Clem!”, while a third chimed in: “Well said xx.”
“Love this so much! So down to earth and real, wonderful childhood, great mum,” penned one person as another added: “Well said! Both in good measure!”
