Gold Rush

Rescuing An Operation By Optimising Wash Plants!

Challenges and Breakthroughs on the Gold Mining Site

Gold mining is rarely a smooth journey, but for Freddy, Juan, Jim, and Wendy, it’s all part of the grind. As the team battles heavy rain and muddy roads, they continue pushing forward to achieve their goal—recovering fine gold.

Dealing with the Elements: The Heavy Toll of Rain and Mud

The season has been a challenging one for the crew, especially with the relentless rain that has turned their access roads into muddy quagmires. Freddy, despite his deep experience, remains undeterred, continuing his search for gold-rich ground. “We’ve had a lot of rain this year, and it’s been tough,” Freddy admits. “The road’s a mud hole, and it’s made everything harder.”

But adversity breeds resilience. Freddy is using his knowledge of the ground to sift through layers of tailings and gravel, searching for untouched deposits. “This looks better,” he says, as he spots a promising area, even though it’s clear that much of the ground has been reworked.

Reviving the Wash Plant: A New Spray Bar Design

In the face of mounting challenges, innovation is key. With Freddy’s unwavering dedication, the team is working on a groundbreaking modification to the wash plant—an improved spray bar system capable of generating 50 times more water pressure than before. “It’s a game changer,” says Juan, who took the lead on welding the new spray bars. The adjustments, paired with a custom-built scissor lift, provide the plants with a more efficient cleaning system to catch fine gold.

“We’ve learned a lot through trial and error,” says Freddy. “It’s not perfect yet, but it’s a step in the right direction. We’re catching more fine gold than ever before.”

From Setbacks to Success: A Big Win for the Team

The new spray bar system proves effective as material runs through the plants more efficiently than before. “We’re running a lot more material, and it’s a lot cleaner,” Freddy adds as the crew watches the gold accumulate. After a 4-hour run, Jim and his team are overjoyed to see the results—they’ve already surpassed their initial goal of half an ounce of gold.

“That’s 26 grams right there,” Jim says with a grin. “We did more in one run than we did on our first test.”

With their gold table running smoothly and more material processed, Jim and his team are finally seeing the fruits of their labor. Their goal is clear: 1.5 ounces of gold per day, which is within reach thanks to the efficiency of the plants.

A Bright Future Ahead: Team Optimism and Perseverance

The team is now feeling more confident about meeting their seasonal goals. “We can finally start paying our bills,” Jim says with hope in his voice. The next challenge? Better material, which could push the team past their targets.

As they prepare to hit the road and help other miners in need, Jim reflects on the journey. “It’s been a tough ride, but we’re making it work. There’s a long road ahead, but at least now, we’re on track.”

With perseverance and the right tools in place, this team of miners looks set for success, despite the tough conditions they continue to face.
