David Beckham takes swipe at Jeremy Clarkson in Cotswolds

Sir David Beckham has taken a swipe at his Cotswolds neighbour, Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson.

The former Manchester United footballer has lived with wife and former Spice Girl, Victoria, at the spot in west Oxfordshire for several years.

Mr Clarkson bought his Oxfordshire farm, Diddly Squat, in 2008 and the spot has been the focal point of Prime Video show Clarkson’s Farm since 2021.

The pair are friends and have recently shared some banter over Mr Beckham’s appointment to guest edit a magazine amid the star being knighted recently.

In his latest piece with The Times, Mr Clarkson revealed a jokey conversation he had with Mr Beckham on a messaging app.

“I’m going to betray a loyalty here. This is from David,” he said.

“I said congratulations [on Mr Beckham guest-editing an edition of County Life magazine] and he replied, ‘Thanks for your message; not official yet, but if it happens I’ll have a nice pint of Stella.’

Mr Clarkson voiced his concern that the former footballer had not picked Hawkstone and replied: “You had better f**king not.”

“If he is going to drink anything that’s not Hawkstone, it should be Beck’s.”

Mr Clarkson recently returned to screens with the fourth series of Clarkson’s Farm including a total of eight new episodes.

A fifth series is on the way after the star confirmed filming has begun late last year.
