Jeremy Clarkson’s disastrous pub launch blamed on famous neighbour

In the latest season of Clarkson’s Farm, Jeremy Clarkson faced a nightmare launch for his new pub, The Farmer’s Dog, as the big opening was plagued by one problem after another.

Staff walking out, broken extractor fans, gas supply troubles, and a leaking roof were just a few of the hurdles the former Top Gear host had to overcome.

Since the episode dropped on Amazon Prime Video, it’s come to light that the biggest problem on the day was actually the water supply — and a well-known celebrity neighbour might have been partly to blame.

That famous face is none other than Ellen DeGeneres. The former US talk show host and her actress wife, Portia de Rossi, recently moved to the Cotswolds village of Asthall — just a stone’s throw from Diddly Squat Farm — and their new home reportedly includes a huge swimming pool.

According to the Daily Mail, one local resident claimed Ellen’s pool could have been the reason behind Jeremy’s water woes.

They explained: “Pools of that size, filled with normal mains water, can take a week to nine days to fill. Sometimes even longer, depending on the local mains water pressure.

“If you can imagine having all the taps on to fill the pool, that has to take a lot of water out of the system, and Asthall really is just a very small hamlet with a handful of houses.

“Perhaps it’s no surprise that Clarkson, with all the water a business like that uses, ran out.”

It’s believed that the 56ft pool was emptied, cleaned, and refilled around the August Bank Holiday — the exact time Clarkson unveiled his revamped pub to the public.

After enduring the chaos, Jeremy has since admitted this will be his final attempt at launching a new venture.

Speaking to The Times, he said: “I’m done with business now. I am not starting another business as long as I live.

“I don’t understand it and am not motivated by money. I just want a good craic.”
