Jeremy Clarkson admits he is too weak to open ketchup bottle after sombre funeral confession
Jeremy Clarkson has revealed another uncomfortable side effect of his recent weight-loss journey, saying he has become so weak he can no longer open a bottle of ketchup.
The Clarkson’s Farm star, 66, said the issue came after losing three stone in six months while taking Mounjaro following a heart scare. Although the medication helped him shed weight, Clarkson admitted that not all of the loss came from body fat. Writing in his latest Sun column, he said a third of the weight he lost was lean muscle, leaving him with what he described as legs like pipe cleaners.
The remark was delivered in Clarkson’s usual dry style, but it pointed to a more serious concern. Losing muscle mass can have a major effect on strength, movement and day-to-day life, and Clarkson suggested the impact is now impossible for him to ignore. He even joked that he looks like something painted by Lowry, a sign of how dramatically his body has changed in recent months.
Determined to improve his condition, Clarkson said he has now started doing Pilates twice a week and lifting weights in an effort to rebuild his strength. The goal appears to be not only to keep the weight off, but also to reverse some of the physical weakness that has come with it.
His comments also sparked discussion on GB News, where panellists said his experience highlighted the importance of exercise while using weight-loss injections. They argued that people taking these medications should not focus only on dropping pounds, but also on protecting muscle mass through regular physical activity.
Clarkson has previously admitted to other side effects as well, including feeling less quick-witted and noticing a reduced libido, though he suggested that age may also be a factor. Even so, he has said he plans to stay on the medication because he does not want the weight to return.
The latest confession adds to a run of unusually personal health disclosures from Clarkson, who has recently spoken more openly about ageing and his own physical decline. And while not being able to open a ketchup bottle may sound like a small problem, the image says a lot about how much his body has changed in a short space of time.
