Warwickshire farmer in Jeremy Clarkson-founded choir says he had ‘such a good time’ on BGT

A Warwickshire farmer said he had ‘such a good time’ performing on Britains Got Talent. Christopher Slatter is a member of the Hawkstone Farmers Choir, which was founded by Jeremy Clarkson.

Chris, from Mickleton Wood Farm, performed on the ITV show on Saturday, March 21. He was joined by dozens of farmers and earned an automatic spot in the semi-finals after Amanda Holden awarded them the Golden Buzzer.

In 2024, Jeremy Clarkson brought together 32 British farmers and agricultural workers to form the Hawkstone Farmers’ Choir. He formed the group after a Facebook ad called for strong singers working in agriculture for a project with his Hawkstone alcoholic drinks brand.

What started as recording jingles at The Farmers Dog in Burford soon evolved into something far more profound. Together, the group aims to raise awareness and funds for mental health charities supporting agricultural workers and their wellbeing.

One member told the BGT crowd on Saturday: “Jeremy Clarkson did a thing, and that thing is the Hawkstone Farmers’ Choir. Jeremy brought us together to sing, and it has just really been amazing for us all.”

With a performance of One Day Like This, Amanda Holden was brought to tears and said: “I felt so much power. I love the whole community. I love how you have all got together.

“You work so hard every single day. You absolutely smashed it, and I cannot wait to see what you are going to do in the semi-finals.”

Jeremy was watching at home and was every bit as moved as the judges. Taking to Instagram, he said: “I watched Britains Got Talent tonight for the first time because the Hawkstone Choir were on, and they were just fantastic.

“To see them all on that stage with all that love in the room made my heart sing. I actually welled up, and thank you, Amanda Holden, for pressing that Golden Buzzer thing. I do not know what that means, but it obviously is important.”
