Kaleb Cooper’s replacement fears as Clarkson’s Farm change leaves him ‘deeply suspicious’

Clarkson’s Farm series five is being billed as the most dramatic yet, with Jeremy Clarkson facing ill health, while Kaleb Cooper is once again by his side to help tackle the challenges ahead

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that his Clarkson’s Farm co-star Kaleb Cooper was “deeply suspicious” of a major new addition to their farming operation. The duo have worked together since 2019, when Jeremy took charge of his Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire.

As seen in the popular series, the 66-year-old has been navigating the realities of agricultural life with the assistance of his farmhand, Kaleb, 27.

In recent years, cutting-edge technology has been brought in to streamline daily operations on the farm, though Kaleb hasn’t always welcomed these developments with open arms.

When quizzed about the new technology in an interview with Closer Magazine, Jeremy confessed: “Yes and Kaleb was deeply suspicious of all of it. The autonomous tractor especially worried him because he thought it was going to replace him. I quite enjoyed winding him up about that.”

He went on to say: “But the technology is amazing. We now have detailed underground soil mapping that tells us exactly where soil quality changes across the farm.

“It means we only use fertiliser where it’s actually needed, which is much better environmentally.”

Despite picking up considerable knowledge along the way, the former Top Gear presenter admitted that certain tasks continue to elude him.

“Anything practical!,” he confessed when asked what still gets the better of him. “I still can’t attach equipment to the back of a tractor properly. I can never remember which buttons to press or where the hydraulic hoses go.

“After years of doing this, I should know. Instead, I still end up shouting for Kaleb to rescue me,” he added.

The fifth series of Clarkson’s Farm is set to return next month. According to the synopsis accompanying the trailer: “Clarkson’s Farm is back, and amidst a government budget that sends the UK farming community into uproar, Jeremy decides some big changes are needed to make the farm run more smoothly.

“But while the crops get the high-tech treatment and there’s cutting edge new kit to play with, even bigger developments are heading for Diddly Squat 2.0 that are going to prove much more of a challenge.”

Beyond the agricultural hurdles featured in the upcoming series, Jeremy is also seen grappling with a health issues

Towards the end of 2024, the presenter revealed he had undergone emergency heart surgery after suffering pains that were later discovered to be caused by blocked arteries.

Speaking recently on Heart Radio about his recovery, he confirmed he is “very well”, noting: “It was quite a fraught year last year but no, I’m absolutely fine now. Tickety-boo.”
