Representatives for Jeremy Clarkson’s Cotswolds farm in Oxfordshire are set to be decided in the coming days, with important local elections taking place next week.
The television personality, famous for his work on Top Gear and The Grand Tour, has been a resident of Oxfordshire for several years. His most notable property in the region is Diddly Squat Farm, located in the picturesque village of Chadlington. Clarkson’s venture into the farming world has captivated audiences, largely due to the success of his hit television series, Clarkson’s Farm, which showcases his often humorous and chaotic attempts at running the farm.
In addition to his farm, Clarkson purchased The Windmill pub in Asthall for £1,000,000 a couple of years ago. After extensive renovations, he reopened the pub under a new name – The Farmer’s Dog – in August 2024. The pub quickly became a favorite among locals and visitors alike, drawing in large crowds with its unique charm and Clarkson’s personal touch. However, the pub’s short existence has not been without its share of challenges. Among the issues it has faced, planning decisions regarding the overflow car park have sparked some debate, reflecting a familiar pattern in Clarkson’s dealings with local authorities.

His farm, Diddly Squat, has been the site of several planning disputes, particularly with the West Oxfordshire District Council. This includes the ward representing Chipping Norton, the town near which Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm Shop is located.
The list of candidates for the Chipping Norton ward has already been revealed, giving insight into the future potential representatives Clarkson may need to engage with as he continues his farm-related ventures. Sandra June Coleman, a representative of the Liberal Democrats, will be standing for election, alongside Claire Eliane Lasko, who is running for the Green Party. Darren Marshall will be representing Reform UK, while the Conservative Party candidate is Caspar Morris. Labour and the Co-operative Party will be represented by Sian O’Neill, rounding out the slate of candidates.
These elections will provide a clearer picture of the political landscape in the area, especially in relation to Clarkson’s farm and pub operations. For now, it seems the candidates will be looking to appeal to voters with their policies on local development and planning issues, with Clarkson’s high-profile projects likely influencing some of the discussions.
