Jeremy Clarkson Unveils Striking New Addition at The Farmer’s Dog Pub

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed a new and eye-catching addition to his Cotswolds pub, The Farmer’s Dog, located in the village of Asthall near Burford. The striking feature — a life-sized Highland cow sculpture crafted by renowned artist Hamish Mackie — has quickly become a talking point for locals and visitors alike.

The pub, which opened its doors in summer 2024 after an extensive £1 million refurbishment, has already established itself as one of Oxfordshire’s must-visit destinations. Formerly known as The Windmill, the venue was transformed by Clarkson and his partner Lisa Hogan into a rustic-yet-stylish country pub that celebrates British farming, good food, and local produce.

Since opening, The Farmer’s Dog has drawn huge crowds. Tourists and fans of Clarkson’s Farm regularly stop by for a pint of Hawkstone lager, the beer brand created by Clarkson himself, while enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The pub has also expanded with a pop-up Diddly Squat Farm Shop, an in-house butcher called Hops and Chops, a Hawkstone merchandise store, a pizza van, and a large outdoor seating area.

Now, with the installation of Mackie’s sculpture, the pub’s grounds have taken on an even more distinctive character. The bronze Highland cow, titled Highland Cow Life Size 2025, stands proudly on display — a perfect nod to Clarkson’s deepening ties to the rural and agricultural world.

Sculptor Hamish Mackie shared a video of the installation on Instagram, writing:

“Today we installed Highland Cow Life Size 2025 at The Farmer’s Dog pub, where it is to be exhibited by kind permission of Jeremy Clarkson and Lisa Hogan.
Thank you to everyone who helped with the installation today, and to Wilcoteblooms who made it possible. Let us know if you spot it!”

The post quickly gained traction among fans, with many sharing their own photos of the impressive sculpture — and even Clarkson’s Farm stars Gerald Cooper and Alan Townsend were seen posing beside it.

For visitors to the pub, the Highland cow has become more than just an artwork — it’s another piece of the ever-expanding Clarkson empire, blending humour, farming pride, and rural artistry into one quintessentially Clarkson’s Farm moment.

Whether it’s for a pint, a pizza, or now a photo with the cow, The Farmer’s Dog continues to draw visitors from across the UK — proving that Clarkson’s Cotswold ventures are still full of surprises.
