Clarkson’s Farm Could Return Sooner Than Expected With Christmas Special Also in the Works

Clarkson’s Farm could soon be heading back to screens, with a festive twist also now appearing to be part of the plan.

According to comments from producer Andy Wilman, the Prime Video hit is expected to return within just a few weeks, and a Christmas special is also being lined up, offering fans even more from Jeremy Clarkson’s increasingly popular farming world.

Since first launching in 2021, Clarkson’s Farm has grown from an unusual celebrity farming experiment into one of the most talked-about factual entertainment shows on television. Set at Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington, Oxfordshire, the series follows Clarkson as he attempts to navigate the often harsh and unpredictable realities of rural life, from weather disasters and livestock problems to bureaucracy, planning battles and the day-to-day chaos of running a working farm.

Over the course of four series, the show has built a loyal audience far beyond Clarkson’s traditional fan base. Much of that success has come not only from Clarkson himself, but from the cast around him. Kaleb Cooper has become a breakout star thanks to his straight-talking expertise and frequent disbelief at Clarkson’s ideas, while Charlie Ireland’s calm, practical guidance has become an essential part of the programme’s rhythm. Lisa Hogan has also remained a popular presence, bringing humour and balance to some of the farm’s most hectic moments.

The latest chapter of the show has expanded that world even further. Clarkson’s decision to buy The Windmill pub in Asthall, later reopening it in 2024 as The Farmer’s Dog, introduced a major new setting for the series. The move allowed the programme to branch beyond the boundaries of Diddly Squat itself, showing Clarkson trying to take his countryside ambitions into hospitality as well as farming. That storyline now appears set to play an even bigger role in what is coming next.

Wilman, who has known Clarkson since school and has worked alongside him for decades on Top Gear, The Grand Tour and now Clarkson’s Farm, revealed that series five should arrive in just a few weeks. But it was his remarks about a possible Christmas special that are likely to excite viewers most.

Speaking on the Extraordinary Life Stories podcast, Wilman described a festive sequence set in the pub that takes place around Christmas, during a quieter time of year for farming. He suggested the tone feels a little like a Vicar of Dibley Christmas special, with more emphasis on character, warmth and comedy than on the pressures of the agricultural calendar.

According to Wilman, one of the standout moments involves Clarkson deciding he wants to create a Santa’s grotto. That idea leads to a meeting with Charlie, where Clarkson explains exactly what he has in mind. Wilman was full of praise for the scene, saying he believed it was one of the best pieces of television he had ever helped make. He even recalled looking at the editor during the process and feeling they were watching something truly special.

The storyline then reportedly continues with Clarkson and Kaleb building the grotto together, a setup that already sounds like classic Clarkson’s Farm material. The relationship between the two men has long been at the heart of the show’s appeal, with Kaleb’s practical knowledge regularly colliding with Clarkson’s chaotic enthusiasm. Wilman added that Kaleb’s thoughts on the creation of mankind during the sequence were blindingly brilliant, hinting at the kind of dry, unexpected humour that fans have come to love.

The idea of a Christmas special feels like a natural next step for a series that has steadily grown in both scale and confidence. Clarkson’s Farm has always been at its best when it mixes genuine rural challenges with character-driven comedy, and a festive episode set partly around the pub could offer exactly that balance. It also suggests that the producers are increasingly aware of the strength of the ensemble cast and the wider world they have built around Diddly Squat.

At the same time, the update points to just how strong demand remains for the show. Even with four series already released and a fifth close to launch, Clarkson’s Farm continues to generate major interest. That popularity has been driven by more than Clarkson’s name alone. The programme has managed to tap into something broader, combining humour with a surprisingly honest portrait of the difficulties facing British farming. Rising costs, unpredictable seasons, official restrictions and the sheer physical demands of the job have all helped give the series a level of depth that many viewers did not necessarily expect when it first began.

If the Christmas special does go ahead, it could become one of the show’s most memorable instalments yet. The setting of The Farmer’s Dog, the seasonal atmosphere, Clarkson’s tendency to turn simple ideas into oversized projects, and Kaleb’s reactions all seem to point toward a festive episode with strong comic potential.

For now, fans are still waiting for official confirmation from Prime Video, but Wilman’s remarks leave little doubt that something special is being prepared. With series five expected within weeks and a Christmas-themed chapter also in the works, Clarkson’s Farm looks ready to keep expanding its world just as audience appetite for it remains as strong as ever.
